Create a phone system just right for you and your family. Each room has different essential requirements with additional "desired" options.
A minimum of 1 CAT5E cable is run for each phone to a centralized location. This is called a "home-run," since the cable does not stop for additional phone locations along the way. There are several advantages to this method. One advantage is each cable is independent of any other phone cable. If one cable is interuppted, the other phone jacks are still operational. Another advantage is the phone jack in one room can be disconnected from the phone block and reterminated as a network jack.
"Piggy-back" is the old style of running a cable from the phone box and stopping at each room. This method reduces the amount of cable used, but is not the current method. This technique introduces the possibility of interference and crosstalk from other phone lines. If one cable is interuppted, the remaining phone jacks are not operational.
This may include cordless phones (900 mhz, 2.4ghz, 5.8ghz), desk phones, wall mounted phones, two line phones, caller-id, voicemail or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) like Vonage. Vonage requires a high speed Internet connection and VOIP network router.
Each phone manufacturer has their own set of benefits and options. Let us present the latest products to find the best phone system for you.
